On pause.

Way too many worries, emotions, etc., in my little mind
& I don't like to share those "wa wa" posts.
So for now, I am on pause.
Going to the beach for 7 days &
hope that debbie downer-ness goes away.

I do have some surprising news to share in June.
I guess you will just have to wait, huh?
and NO I am not pregnant.

In the meantime, I will leave you will another
paused project.
Do you remember that shelf I got @ GW for 3 bucks-
here is the progress thus far.

impromptu, sunshine, & dirt :)

Got rid of crap stuff.
Made some extra beach cash.
Watched Avery get dirty, play in a baby pool WAY to small for her.
followed by watching her devour an ice pop.

Cleaned house.
ALL laundry done.
Spray painted my Goodwill shelf.
Took naps BOTH days.

yah, yah, my kinda southern weekend :)

More boost, baby!

Someone recently told me to make sure I make it about me sometimes.
If you can't make it about yourself just a little, how can you make it about everyone else the rest of the time?

I am working on this.
I have actually starting sketching, composing and creating clothes for ME.
I am a mama of 2; can only fit into a few of things from Forever 21, can't afford Anthropologie, and too young for J Jill. ;) [sorry mom].
So, what the heck? Why not making those sketches come to life?

I feel so self absorbed posting another "me" post, but this one gave me a major self-esteem boost & what semi-overweight busy mama couldn't use that?

Gray tank from Wal-Mart: $3.88+Navy blue knit material (little less than a yard)+ 2 different cream trims=my new FAVE tunic. (total cost, about $12).

& who doesn't like a little rum&diet coke to celebrate a successful vision?
Me, please!

What? I made something for ME?!

Yup, I sure did!
Can you believe it? All these years of sewing & I never made myself anything.

During a Skype-N-Sew lesson with my sister, Mandie the other night I decided
that Avery had enough of these & it was my turn.
Please go check out how awesome Mandie did for her first skirt tries too :)
How fun!

not much

this weekend.
a lot of cuddling, playing. & no where to be.
it was pretty nice & for once, I don't feel guilty one bit [okay, maybe a lil bit].

oh BOY! She's about to POP!

I had the privilege of co-hosting a baby shower for Emily & baby Reid with other friends Melissa & Anne-Marie. It was a great night with good eats, treats, & friends.

Only Emily would surround herself with some beautiful people and it was nice welcoming new people into my home for her.

We cannot wait to meet lil man & I know he will be the perfect addition to Emily's adorable little family!
Enjoy the photos!

i heart bein' a mama

Another fabulous mother's day...simple, sweet, & everything I wanted.
slept til 8:30 [yes, that is sleeping in],
had the cutest cards from all my lovies,
hub made me dippy eggs & toast [as close as my mom makes them] ;)
had 2 hours of alone house time to clean up, make a pasta salad, & talk on the phone.

napped with lil man on the couch [one of my most favorite things to do before the age of 1].
felt warm inside watching Avery pick flowers for me.
felt pumped about life when she actually took a nap today.
ate hot dogs & pasta salad for din [one of my faves],
watched Avery & Anderson cuddle & hold hands on the couch before baths.

got to sew after the kids were in bed.
[in love with my newest skirt for Ave] & my fix-job on a $10 MJ shirt {it had a very fixable hole on it}
Thanks Vicky Myatt for the scrap fabric to make Avery this skirt. :)

Couldn't ask for more.
I love the simple, true, and everlasting love our family of 4 has for one another.

'Mama, my baby needs a pillow too.'

This morning my lil Avery noticed that her baby needed a pillow too. She then asked if she could have a bubble silky like hers. Luckily, I did have bubble minky & could make this happen...

I let her pick out any fabric she wanted. {was worried she'd pick something weird like dog-bone fabric OR old Christmas fabric}. As always, she has great taste & chose well.

15 minutes later & a happy mama Avery made a happy baby Bailey {what she named her; think after a friend @ school}.

I love her sense of care, concern, and creativity.

Summer Simple Skirt

Well, Dana was right. Her tutorial for the 'Simple Skirt' is totally simplified.
By following her easy to read steps, any beginner (or advanced) sewer could whip this
up in anywhere from 20 minutes-an hour.
{took me about 40 mins b/c I lost my stupid elastic 1/2 way through the pull}

It's bittersweet that Avery is into picking out what she wants to wear.
She loved this one and kept asking when I was going to make her "banana lobster" skirt.

After I did the skirt, I let her pick out what she wanted on her shirt.
{she did good, huh}.
She laughed when she saw I put the watermelon on the back.

Hope you get the chance to try this skirt.
Think I might make one for myself.
{for an adult, you follow the same steps, but measure the waist & length you need}.
Enjoy!
